Frequently Asked Questions

So is this solar?

No, Solar is on the generation side of any energy project whereas we specialize in providing energy conservation measures via a centralized server based network of sensors, processors and related devices to form a system with software that allow the user to seamlessly implement unique energy conservation strategies that have often resulted in lighting savings of up to 60%.

What should our company invest in, your system or solar panels?

It is our philosophy that one must first determine one's true energy needs (through measurement, design and efficiency programming) before they invest in solar. If you don't know what you truly need how do you determine how much solar is necessary?

What is Daylight harvesting?

Daylight harvesting refers to one of our strategies that allows the system to continuously adjust the facilities artificial light at the presence of natural light, thereby reducing your energy spend in real time.

What percentage of our company's energy spend is accounted for by lighting

This percentage varies from country to country. In the US it is around 38% but in Trinidad and Tobago it accounts for 19% with HVAC accounting for approx. 60%, thus making ITEM's impact on your company's energy bill targets 79% of your expenditure.

What are Occupancy Sensors?

Occupancy Sensors are precise devices that can detect finite motion and sound that then adjust the lighting and or AC to desired setpoint or levels, these hardware components allow automation of lights, HVAC and plug-load to achieve constant and consistent energy efficiency.
